As a result the 2014 Cape Town Art Fair is preparing to take the city’s art scene by storm. Besides offering an exciting commercial opportunity, CTAF is also a platform to forge relationships, spark conversations, inspire debate and profile the breadth and depth of local talent for collectors, curators, critics and the curious. Between 27 February and 2 March the BMW Pavilion at the V&A Waterfront will offer all this and more, providing a premier visual arts showcase for both a local and international audience.
This year’s line-up includes 34 of South Africa’s leading galleries. It also marks the inaugural participation of institutional heavyweights Stevenson, Goodman and Everard Read, who will be joining the elite ranks of new and returning exhibitors. Other highlights of CTAF’s ever-expanding programme are an innovative children’s art project sponsored by the Sovereign Arts Foundation, film screenings at the IMAX cinema, original curated exhibitions and a series of lectures by critics, cultural commentators, artists and industry professionals exploring various facets of the visual arts sector.
In keeping with CTAF’s vision of Cape Town as a sustainable centre for creative excellence, the Fair is focussing on building a legacy. 2014 will see our business model reach a critical creative mass serving to cement our foothold on the art market.
